WW1 Millitary Postcard And Photograph Album Egypt & Palestine Sollum Etc.

First World War Egypt and Palestine cards and photographs, including a scarce panoramic view of the Bay of Sollum to the far west of Egypt's Western Desert, taken by Sergeant Finlay, 2nd Company Imperial Camel Corps, on the day after the British retook Sollum from the Senussi tribesmen on 16 February 1916. The lengthy caption on the back, written by Sergeant Finlay, also records the rescue a month later, by an armoured car patrol under the Duke of Westminster, of the crew of HMS Tara who had been captured by the Senussi.

The small photographs include the 1/2nd Welsh Field Ambulance Hospital at Wardan Camp; Helouan Camp; Wadi Natrun in the Western Desert; probably the 1st Australian Light Horse Regiment; tanks; and Turkish prisoners. The postcards include messages from soldiers, and postal history interest with censor and other military cachets.

Approx 65 postcards & 38 photographs, see images
